MONTPELIER -- Milliman, Inc. has announced the establishment of a branch location in South Burlington. They are the first large actuarial firm to have a physical presence in Vermont. The company opened the office on June 1, 2006. The manager of the Vermont branch office, Chris Kogut, ACAS, MAAA, will report directly to Milliman's Boston office.
"We are very excited to be in Vermont. It's a tremendous growth market
and represents a great opportunity for us," said Joel Chansky, a
Principal in Milliman's Boston office. "Vermont is a leading on-shore
domicile and its strong captive professional services infrastructure
made it an attractive arena for us," Chansky added.
The Vermont Branch will focus primarily on providing actuarial
consulting services to the captive industry. These services include
diverse areas as evaluations of loss and expense reserves, pricing and
funding requirements, risk retentions, insurance management and
operations, financial analysis, claims consulting and reinsurance
issues. "We are delighted that Milliman has chosen to open a branch
office in Vermont," said Governor Jim Douglas. "Their reputation and
strength in the industry are a terrific addition to Vermont's
world-class professional support infrastructure."
Founded in 1947, the Seattle-based Milliman has 31 offices in the
United States and abroad employing approximately 1,900 people. The firm
has consulting practices in employee benefits, healthcare, life
insurance, financial services, and property & casualty insurance.
"Vermont has worked closely with the Milliman Boston office for years
and the addition of a Vermont branch will only enhance Vermont's
ability to be responsive, flexible and innovative," said Vermont's
Deputy Commissioner of Captive Insurance, Len Crouse.
Clients can reach Chris Kogut at 802-865-1286 or Joel Chansky at 781-213-6237.
